Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for an Handling Qualities Engineer to join our Aircraft Control Domain department based in Toulouse, France. All along the aircraft (A/C) life, Handling Qualities (HQ) team plays an integrator role between flight physics and systems/Engine/Landing Gear which can be summarized through 3 main activities: A/C control surfaces sizing to ensure the A/C maneuverability and stability requirements, Flight domain definition : definition of characteristic speeds, definition of angle of attack protection settings, setup of weight & CG diagrams, All these activities in strong relation with cockpit systems and with operational people (Flight Operations, Flight test), Assessment of the A/C behavior in case of failure of A/C systems and assessment of the criticality of the event. Contributing to defining the procedure with Flight Ops, Flight Tests and system teams how to manage the failure. The Handling Qualities team supports the in service fleets by analyzing the in service events with strong collaboration with Customer Support and Product Safety organizations. As well, the team supports the A/C during the production phases prior to the final delivery to our customers.
Job Responsibility:
Checking aircraft and actuator sizing for HQ needs
Defining flight domain where aircraft safety, comfort and reliability is guaranteed
Analyzing the consequences of any system failure on aircraft Stability and Control
Analyzing in-service events and system behavior during these events
Preparing, performing and following up simulator tests and flight tests requests necessary to validate those studies
Requirements:
Degree in aeronautical engineering / mechanical engineering (or equivalent) with some experience
Flight Dynamics knowledge
Test and/or Flight Physics knowledge
Knowledge in Control simulation tools: Matlab, Simulink
Advanced level of English and French
Nice to have:
Knowledge in Automatic control of system Control feedback loop
Interest in digitalisation (data analytics) would be a plus (e.g. Python)
Aircraft systems knowledge would be a significant advantage
