An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Haematologist to join a well-established and progressive Haematology department in the East of England. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive clinical and laboratory Haematology service, with opportunities to develop a specialist interest through dedicated weekly sessions at a tertiary referral centre. The role includes exposure to advanced haemato-oncology services, multidisciplinary working, and specialist clinics.
Job Responsibility:
Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient Haematology services
Manage patients attending new clinics, follow-up clinics, and chemotherapy/day units
Provide advice regarding blood film morphology, bone marrow interpretation, clotting and bleeding disorders, and blood product administration
Conduct regular ward rounds and inpatient reviews
Participate in Haematology on-call services
Support anticoagulation and coagulation services
Deliver telephone follow-up clinics and specialist haematology clinics
Participate in haemato-oncology multidisciplinary meetings (MDTs)
1 day per week at a tertiary referral centre to develop a specialist interest
Contribute to Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT)
Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP)
Clinical governance and audit
Evidence-based pathway redesign
Quality improvement initiatives
Development of clinical protocols and care pathways
Supervise junior doctors and speciality trainees
Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Act as educational/clinical supervisor where appropriate
Support multidisciplinary education programmes
Participate in research, audit, and CPD activities
Contribute to departmental educational meetings and governance activities
Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
MRCP Part 1 and Part 2
Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Haematology or within 6 months of CCT or CESR on the interview date
Clinical training equivalent to UK CCT in Haematology or General Internal Medicine
Minimum 1 year NHS experience
Strong experience in Clinical Haematology

Higher degree in Clinical research
