We are looking for a success-driven Guest Services Representative to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee. This is a Contract to permanent position where you will play a vital role in ensuring visitors have an exceptional experience at the museum. The ideal candidate will have a deep interest in history, strong communication skills, and a customer-focused approach as they assist guests and provide insights into exhibits.
Job Responsibility:
Welcome guests at entry points, including the front door and Box Office, ensuring a warm and detail-oriented first impression
Become knowledgeable about the museum exhibits, including permanent and rotating displays, to share accurate and engaging information with visitors
Guide guests through the museum, answering questions and providing directions to enhance their experience
Monitor and manage the flow of traffic in hallways and exhibit areas to ensure a smooth and organized visit for all
Deliver brief presentations in the theater before and after the introductory video to enrich visitors’ understanding of the museum
Stand for extended periods at assigned stations, maintaining a detail-oriented and approachable demeanor
Assist in achieving sales and service goals by promoting museum offerings and services
Provide information about museum policies, events, and the Civil Rights era to educate and inspire guests
Maintain cleanliness and order in assigned areas to create a welcoming environment
Collaborate with team members to address guest needs and resolve any concerns promptly
Requirements:
At least 2 years of experience in customer service, retail, or a related field
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate information to diverse audiences
A passion for history and education, particularly regarding the Civil Rights era
Ability to stand for extended periods and move between assigned stations within the museum
Weekend availability and flexibility to work varied shifts, including one weekday off
Proficiency in handling guest inquiries and resolving issues with attention to detail
Comfortable delivering short presentations to groups
Nice to have:
Previous experience in retail sales or assisting guests in a similar environment is a plus
