We are seeking a Groups & Events Manager for our iconic Madrid Marriott Hotel Princesa Plaza. Located in the heart of Madrid, this landmark property is currently undergoing a complete transformation. Following a comprehensive renovation and a strategic repositioning process, we are looking for visionary leaders eager to leave their mark on this exciting new chapter. The G&E Manager will lead the operational transformation of the reactive sales department. This role does not focus on cold calling or direct business acquisition, but rather on guiding, supervising, and developing the team. The successful candidate will be the custodian of methodological excellence, system optimization, and strict compliance with Marriott’s corporate processes and audit standards.
Job Responsibility
Team Leadership: Guide, support, and evaluate the reactive sales team, ensuring full alignment with the hotel’s strategic goals
Operational Facilitation: Act as an operational enabler, supervising and streamlining the team's quoting guidelines and issue-resolution processes
Process Engineering: Design, audit, and implement efficient workflows within the sales department
Compliance & Governance: Meticulously oversee compliance with contractual guidelines, cancellation policies, deposits, and departmental document management
Brand Standards: Guarantee that all operations strictly adhere to Marriott’s global quality and brand standards
Data & Forecast Integrity: Oversee accurate data entry and system maintenance in Opera 5.6, ensuring the integrity of both the forecast and room/space inventory
System Optimization: Standardize templates, contracts, and profiles within the PMS to optimize team response times
Reporting & Analytics: Report directly to the Director of Sales on operational performance, response times (SLAs), and segment conversion rates
Departmental Synergy: Ensure fluid, seamless, and dynamic day-to-day management within the department
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration (ADE), or a related field
3–5 years of proven experience in supervisory or leadership roles within Groups, Events, and MICE segments in high-volume hotels, ideally within the Marriott International portfolio
Mandatory expertise in Opera PMS 5.6 and the Microsoft Office Suite
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and professional working proficiency in English (C1/C2 level)
Deep understanding of Marriott’s corporate tools, platforms, and standards
Strong people management skills, collaborative mindset, and highly effective communication
Sharp attention to detail, strong project management and multitasking abilities, analytical mindset, and a transformational leadership style
