Mowi's Global R&D and Technical Department is seeking a Group manager for its functional area of Seawater Technology. This position has a leading role in defining R&D projects and supporting farming operations with technical expertise in strategic areas such as Smart Farming, Submerged Farming, Shielding Technologies against lice and environmental insults, Lice Management Tools, Nets and anti-fouling strategies and Feeding Strategies. The advancements in Seawater Technology will remain critical to enable volume growth, cost effectiveness, and enhanced sustainability in pen production. This is an opportunity to be part of and lead strategic projects for Mowi Group. You will be working hands-on with technology and collaborating with a cross functional team within GRDT and in close collaboration with farming operations to make meaningful progress in advancing salmon farming production.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and implement strategic seawater technology projects across Mowi Group
Collaborate closely with suppliers to guide new technology development that can result in cost-effective solutions that enhance volume growth and/or reduce cost of production
Run a Global Technical Team that ensures knowledge sharing and accelerate implementation of projects across farming countries
Analyze project results, conduct cost–benefit evaluations, and present recommendations to management
Identify knowledge gaps in collaboration with farming units and participate in external funded projects (eg FHF projects) to close such gaps
Coordinate from Mowi’ side, R&D centers such as the Blue Revolution Centre
Lead cross-departmental projects to align seawater technology goals with overall company objectives
Ensure structured project management, budget control, and compliance with regulatory and environmental standards
Cultivate collaboration with external research institutions and technology providers
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of innovation
Requirements:
Relevant higher education, for example a degree in aquaculture, fish biology or engineering
Practical technical experience in the aquaculture industry, ideally with seawater technologies for at least 5 years
Strong technical skills and understanding, with a passion for exploring new tools and systems
Experience with managing R&D projects or collaborative operational improvements projects
