Join Quintessential Brands as Legal Counsel. Advise on corporate, commercial and IP matters across global spirits brands, balancing legal rigour with commercial pragmatism in an FMCG business. As our Group Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in supporting the legal integrity and commercial success of Quintessential Brands across the UK and international markets. By providing trusted, pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of corporate, commercial, IP, and compliance matters, you will help to safeguard our reputation, minimise risk, and enable confident business decision-making. This is a hands-on, advisory role operating at pace within a dynamic, international FMCG environment. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, balancing legal precision with commercial pragmatism as you support growth, innovation, and brand expansion.

Job Responsibility

  • Commercial Legal Support – Advise the business on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters across multiple jurisdictions, including IP, compliance, contracts, and disputes
  • Risk & Governance – Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risk, ensuring the business operates within legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Contracts & Documentation – Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, agreements, and legal documents to protect the company’s interests
  • Compliance & Labelling – Support compliance and labelling requirements relevant to the alcohol industry
  • Policy Development – Develop and maintain company policies and positions on legal matters
  • Stakeholder Advisory – Provide clear, timely legal advice to executives, managers, and functional leaders
  • External Engagement – Manage relationships with external legal advisers, IP lawyers, regulators, and public authorities
  • Complex Matter Management – Handle matters involving multiple stakeholders, balancing competing interests
  • Horizon Scanning – Monitor changes in legislation and external legal developments, advising the business on impact and response

Requirements

  • Law degree and qualification from an international or top-tier law firm
  • 8+ years PQE in a business or professional services environment
  • Experience across corporate transactions and commercial contracts, including distribution, IP, and brand-related agreements
  • Strong grounding in general commercial law, including intellectual property rights and licensing
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical ability with exceptional attention to detail
  • Sound judgement and the ability to assess risk in a commercial context
  • High professional ethics and integrity
  • Confidence working with external advisers and internal business leaders

Nice to have

Alcohol or FMCG industry exposure is desirable but not essential

  • Handle privacy and information security-related inquiries from a wide range of groups across the company and provide actionable advice and legal counsel to facilitate privacy and information security compliance with the Company’s policies, standards and applicable laws and best practices
