Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Group Insurance Underwriter to support quote preparation for group life and disability insurance programs. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is comfortable working through detailed, highly manual underwriting and proposal tasks with precision and strong reading comprehension. The position involves reviewing case materials, entering financial and plan data, building quotes within a legacy partner platform, and refining proposal documents before final delivery. Success in this role requires excellent attention to detail, strong proofreading ability, and prior experience with group insurance products rather than individual coverage.

Job Responsibility

  • Review group case documentation to gather the information needed for accurate life and disability insurance quotes
  • Enter census, financial, and plan-related data into spreadsheets and underwriting systems to prepare new quote requests
  • Build and process quotes within a partner's legacy platform, ensuring each case is configured correctly before generation
  • Examine system-generated proposal documents and make detailed manual edits to improve accuracy, formatting, and completeness prior to release
  • Proofread quote materials carefully to identify discrepancies, missing information, or inconsistencies in plan details
  • Manage a time-intensive quoting workflow that may require several hours per case, while maintaining quality and meeting expected turnaround times
  • Use training resources and reference materials to navigate complex case setup requirements and support accurate quote development
  • Help support increasing quote activity as business demand grows during peak seasonal periods

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working with group insurance products, with emphasis on underwriting or quote support rather than individual insurance
  • Hands-on knowledge of group life insurance and group disability insurance processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly manual administrative or underwriting environment
  • Strong reading comprehension skills with the ability to interpret plan documents, case materials, and supporting information accurately
  • Excellent proofreading and quality control skills with close attention to detail
  • Experience entering and validating data in spreadsheets and internal or partner systems
  • Ability to organize complex information, prioritize detailed tasks, and complete quote preparation with a high degree of accuracy.
