Our client is a prominent, highly respected leader operating within a high-risk, project-based industrial sector. With multiple operational depots and a strong commitment to environmental and corporate social responsibility , they prioritise the safety of their people, families, and the public above all else. They are currently seeking a visionary Group HSEQ Manager who brings the wisdom of "lived safety" to step into a purely strategic leadership position. The Opportunity: Strategic Leadership If you are a safety professional who is tired of simply checking boxes and filling out forms, this is the career-defining move you have been waiting for. This is not a traditional, clipboard-carrying, site-bound safety inspector role. This is an executive steering position. Reporting directly to the General Manager (with a structural alignment to the EGM - Operations and HSEQ) , you will lead, mentor, and empower an established, capable internal team consisting of an HSEQ Manager, HSEQ Coordinator, and HSEQ Administrator. Your primary mandate is to drive the personalisition of safety, championing a deep behavioural change that embeds a proactive "Zero Harm" safety culture across the entire group.

Job Responsibility

  • Strategic Safety Steering: Lead and continuously improve the organisation's overarching WHS strategy, policies, and Integrated Management Systems in alignment with group objectives
  • Behavioural Change & Culture: Move beyond basic compliance to foster true accountability, proactive hazard reporting, and psychological safety where every employee feels empowered to speak up
  • Executive Advisory: Monitor safety performance metrics and trends, providing high-level insights, briefings, and recommendations to the executive leadership team
  • Team Leadership: Coach, mentor, and develop the existing HSEQ team, ensuring the department supports the wider business through genuine business partnering and continuous improvement
  • Audit & Governance: Oversee annual TQCSI audits and maintain existing ISO accreditations (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) while managing high-level relationships with regulators and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrated experience within workplace health and safety roles, including senior leadership and multi-site operational environments
  • Education: A relevant tertiary qualification in WHS or a related technical discipline
  • Regulatory Expertise: Comprehensive, robust knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, compliance frameworks, and incident investigation methodologies
  • Systems & Tools: Proficiency in modern corporate software (MS Office) and an ability to leverage enterprise safety systems

Nice to have

  • Direct experience within the crane hire, heavy transport, logistics, or highly complex project-based industrial sectors
  • In-depth working knowledge of ISO accreditation standards and formal leadership qualifications
