The Group Exhibition Director is responsible for the overall strategic management, direction, development, and growth of an exhibition portfolio. A key challenge of the role is delivering sustainable growth through portfolio expansion, new event launches, new show sectors, and enhanced features. The role works closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and other enabling functions to deliver strong commercial outcomes, high-quality events, and compelling value propositions for exhibitors and visitors.
Job Responsibility:
Provide strategic leadership for an exhibition portfolio, driving sustainable growth through new launches, portfolio expansion, and enhanced show features.
Own the commercial performance of the portfolio, including budget planning, revenue delivery, cost control, and forecasting.
Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to deliver strong value propositions, effective go-to-market strategies, and high-quality event execution.
Build deep industry knowledge and stakeholder relationships to strengthen show positioning, retention, and long-term relevance.
Lead and develop direct reports through clear objectives, coaching, performance management, and capability building.
Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including adjacency events, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
Act as a role model for collaboration, innovation, and adoption of company systems, processes, and best practices.
Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Business, Marketing, or similar).
Extensive experience (10+ years) in project, portfolio, or event management.
Proven experience managing budgets and full P&L responsibility, including forecasting and reforecasting.
Strong strategic business development background with successful product or event launches.
Demonstrated leadership and people management capability.
Experience in sales, key account management, marketing, and brand management.
Strong analytical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
Highly organised, proactive, and commercially minded.
Excellent communicator with a customer-centric mindset.
Collaborative leader with a positive attitude and ability to influence across functions.
