Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Health & Safety Assistant Manager to support our dealerships and General Managers across the South of England. You will play a vital role in maintaining safe working environments, ensuring full compliance with Group policies, driving consistent Health & Safety standards, and providing hands on, practical support at site level. This is a mobile, field based role where you’ll visit multiple dealerships, build strong working relationships, and help embed a proactive safety culture.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support General Managers and department leaders with day to day Health & Safety requirements across multiple Vertu sites
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments, providing clear feedback and improvement actions
  • Drive compliance with all statutory requirements, Group policies, and manufacturer specific expectations
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to colleagues on safe working practices and incident prevention
  • Support accident investigations, root cause analysis, reporting and follow up actions
  • Ensure sites maintain accurate Health & Safety documentation, including RAMS, COSHH, induction records, equipment checks, and workplace assessments
  • Assist with Groupwide safety initiatives, campaigns, and continuous improvement plans
  • Champion a strong safety culture through presence, coaching, and constructive challenge
  • Work closely with the Group Health & Safety Manager to identify trends, escalate concerns, and implement solutions

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Health & Safety role (Coordinator, Advisor or similar), ideally within automotive, retail, or multisite environments
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or working toward) preferred
  • Strong organisational and communication skills — able to influence, train and support colleagues at all levels
  • Confident working independently and managing your own schedule across multiple dealerships
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the South of England
