Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our Group Finance Team based from our Carlisle office - there has never been a better time to join! As Group Accountant at Story Contracting you will provide assistance in the preparation of management and annual accounts for the Group, meeting legislative requirements and undertaking projects as and when required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting with the production of the group management account pack providing meaningful information to aid decision making
  • Supporting with the production of data and information to external stakeholders
  • Providing support and finance team representation to various colleagues and teams
  • Developing processes and controls ensuring they are 'fit for purpose'

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ICAEW/ICAS/CIMA/ACCA), or in the final stages of qualification
  • Working knowledge of relevant tax legislation (VAT/Corporation tax)
  • Experience of preparing company and consolidated statutory accounts
  • Knowledge of the construction and contracting industry (desirable)
  • IT literate, specifically Excel and experience of working with accounting software packages
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Experience of working to deadlines at pace, with changing priorities

  • Investment Accounting: Work closely with the cash and investment management and accounting teams across the group to ensure a smooth, efficient and well controlled reporting process, with appropriate oversight to ensure accurate, compliant and transparent management information
  • Financial Statements: Draft/review financial statement notes for inclusion in the Group’s annual report, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS
