Job Description:

J Reddington Ltd are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Groundworks Supervisor for an initial project in Luton. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of groundworks operations on-site, with a particular focus on basement construction. This role is essential to ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervise groundworks teams and subcontractors on-site
  • Manage excavation, drainage, foundations, basement construction, kerbing, and concrete works
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and site-specific RAMS
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to guide site activities
  • Liaise with engineers, site managers, and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow
  • Monitor site progress, quality, and productivity, reporting to senior management
  • Conduct toolbox talks and site inductions
  • Maintain accurate records including daily diaries, material usage, and labour hours

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within groundworks or civil engineering
  • Demonstrable experience in basement construction, including underpinning, waterproofing, and structural sequencing
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction standards and regulations
  • CSCS Supervisor card (Gold or above)
  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification
  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Nice to have:

  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Construction or Civil Engineering
  • Experience working on residential or commercial developments in London
  • Familiarity with temporary works and traffic management
