As a Groundworker, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of groundworks, including excavation, preparation of building foundations, footpaths, car parks, installation of drainage and service systems, and the construction of kerbs, paving, and concrete slabs. You will also be required to carry out surfacing works, including tarmac surfaces and other hardscapes.

Site Preparation: Clearing and preparing construction sites
Setting out and levelling the ground
Forward plan material and equipment
Ground Excavation: Digging trenches for foundations, drainage, and utilities
Ensuring trenches meet safety standards
Concrete Work: Mixing, pouring, and levelling concrete
Installing formwork and reinforcement
Drainage and Pipework: Installing drainage systems
Ensuring proper alignment, sealing, and gradient of pipes
Installing brickwork to manholes, gulleys, and service pits
Testing drainage systems
Utility Installation: Laying utility services
Following local utility installation standards
Surfacing and Paving: Laying tarmac, paving slabs, block paving, and kerbs
Compacting and levelling surfaces
Landscaping and Finishing: Backfilling excavated areas and grading land
Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operating construction machinery
Conducting routine checks and basic maintenance
Health and Safety: Adhering to health and safety regulations
Identifying and mitigating potential hazards
Collaborating with Other Trades: Work with site manager, supervisors, and other trades
Communicating progress and reporting issues
Site Clean-Up: Removing debris and waste materials
Ensuring compliance with environmental standards
Completed tasks and reporting to site supervisors
Maintaining records of materials used and equipment operated
Requirements:
Valid CSCS Card according to your position
Have at least 5 years’ experience in ground working
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices
Right to Work in the UK
Valid UK driving license
Nice to have:
Ideally hold Roller and Dumper Tickets, CPCS or NPORS. (But not a necessity)
