Grounds Operative

• Maintain public outdoor areas including grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter picking, and planting
• Operate grounds maintenance tools and equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers
• Set up and maintain sports fields and other facilities as needed
• Support seasonal work such as planting or clearing
• Carry out tasks in a safe and efficient manner in line with health and safety regulations
• Assist the public when approached and represent the council in a positive, helpful way
• Work as part of a team to complete daily duties and cover wider service needs when required

• Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or similar outdoor work
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and carry out physical, manual tasks
• Familiarity with tools and equipment related to grounds work
• Basic understanding of health and safety, particularly around highways and machinery
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team with good communication skills
• A full UK driving licence is desirable, particularly for towing trailers or operating council vehicles
