Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering degree or related engineering/technical discipline from an accredited engineering school
Mechanical or aerospace engineer responsible for Environmental Control and Life Support Sub-Systems (ECLSS) spacecraft operations
Strong mechanical background is highly desirable due to the mechanical aspects of the flight hardware, flight support equipment, and ground support equipment
Software development and control system knowledge is desirable for the Ground and Flight Application Software (GFAS) that monitors and controls the hypergolic system hardware
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment with clear, concise, and accurate verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer interface skills required
Analytical and problem-solving skills are a must
Experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, Outlook
Capable of reading/understanding technical manuals, drawings and schematics
Ability to plan, manage and prioritize multiple projects

Job Responsibility

Perform hazardous and non-hazardous fluid operations primarily for spacecraft servicing
Responsible for developing plans, writing work authorization documents, leading Task Teams, creating software products for the firing room console interaction with the hardware, and executing tests and Orion Command Service Module (CSM) processing operations
Perform mechanical engineering tasks in support of a variety of spacecraft to include the Orion Crew Module (CM), Service Module (SM), Orbital Replacement Units (ORUs) for the International Space Station (ISS), and Launch Services Program (LSP) payloads
Support preparations for assembly, test, processing, and launch of NASA's Launch Services Program spacecraft, ISS processing, and Orion Crew Module
Initial assignments will focus developing an understanding of the mechanical fluid systems for ECLSS used by the group and concept of system operations
Assignments may include software coding for the Ground Flight Application Software (GFAS) as it relates to launch countdown and testing for ECLSS firing room console displays
Additional responsibilities in related issues and problem resolution will follow
Assignments will include preparing ground support equipment (GSE) with technicians for mechanical ECLSS fluid systems, and other fluids related engineering systems in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable pressure vessel safety standards
Candidates will be required to develop and apply knowledge of technical principles for the Orion CSM processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, vehicle/ground system design and operation, Ground Flight Application Software (GFAS), and launch configuration and closeouts
Additional responsibilities in spacecraft processing, procedural development, test requirements, system training and task leader certification will follow

FAA Airframe and Powerplant License
A minimum of eight (8+) years aircraft turbine engine line or shop maintenance or substantiated equivalent experience
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience on corporate jet aircraft
A minimum of one (1) year experience on Bombardier aircraft
Proficient in completing engine R&R’S, borescopes and written reports

Job Responsibility

Perform installation, removal or modifications of turbine engines/APU’s, systems or components, following drawings, schematics, engineering orders, and technical publications
Perform repairs on worn, defective, or damaged parts or components (e.g., damaged gaskets, lines and couplings), using hand tools, gauges and testing equipment
Research, read, and interpret technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities
Conduct and assist with engine/APU’s and related systems operational checks and functional tests
