Job Description

As Ground support equipment (GSE) Designer, you create tooling solutions allowing Airbus customers to perform the specific maintenance actions needed to maintain their aircraft fleet airworthy. In this position, you develop GSE solutions providing Airbus customers with the best in class experience, with regard to safety, ergonomics and practicality but as well in terms of recyclability and affordability. With the increasing complexity of aircraft systems, you will be responsible for integrating smart technologies, sensors, and electronic control systems into traditional mechanical GSE to enhance diagnostic capabilities and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibility

  • Understand the customer needs/requirements that might influence the final design
  • Accountable for design, development and support the GSE allocated to him/her
  • Perform the concept studies, trade-off studies and the final design of the GSE, incorporating electromechanical components where applicable
  • Initiate Ground Support Equipment Tools development using aircraft Digital Mock Up (DMU) and adapt the GSE design to it from concept to production drawings and user guide
  • Consider design to manufacture and design to cost aspects in the activities
  • Design and integrate electronic control systems, sensors, and wiring harnesses into GSE assemblies to provide automated or data-driven maintenance solutions
  • Accountable for organizing GSE prototyping, testing and First Article Inspection (FAI)
  • Accountable for Release GSE and customer support documents at the end of the production cycle

Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master Degree in Mechatronics, Aerospace, Automotive, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in design and development of Ground Support Equipment's (GSE) or structural assemblies
  • Proven experience in integrating electronics, sensors, and control logic into mechanical systems (Mechatronics)
  • Proficiency in reading and creating electrical schematics alongside mechanical CAD models will be a plus
  • Experience in handling PDM/VPM tools and linking to CAD models with a design-in-context environment
  • Notion of Aircraft Function, Operation & Processes
  • Awareness of Airbus processes & methods would be an added advantage
  • Very good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to demonstrate effectiveness in holding conversations with customers and customer-centric outreach
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and requirements
  • Ability to bridge the gap between mechanical and electronic engineering disciplines within a team
