Job Description:

Nesco Resource is looking for an experienced Grinding Specialist to support our client's precision manufacturing operations in Elmira, NY. If you're a skilled machinist with expertise in cylindrical or surface grinding and are looking for a high-quality, long-term opportunity—this is the job for you. As a Grinding Specialist (Cylindrical Grinder III), Senior level machinist, you will operate and set up high-precision grinding equipment to produce tight-tolerance parts. You'll work independently in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment, helping deliver critical components to the client's manufacturing process.

Job Responsibility:

  • Set up and operate cylindrical and surface grinders for tight-tolerance work
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, GD&T specifications, and work instructions
  • Use precision tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, and bore gauges
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections for accuracy and quality
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues as needed
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area in line with company and OSHA standards
  • Accurately document production activities and complete job routers
  • Support and mentor junior team members as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • technical/vocational training preferred
  • 5 years of experience in high-precision grinding operations
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading
  • Proven ability to consistently hold tight tolerances (±0.0002 ")
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and lift up to 30 lbs
