Proficiency in operating various types of grinding machines, including bench grinders, surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders
Understanding of different grinding tools and their applications, such as abrasive wheels, belts, and discs
Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle and maneuver grinding tools and workpieces
Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical tasks associated with grinding
Understanding of the hazards associated with grinding operations, including noise, dust, and flying debris
Proper use of personal protective equipment to ensure safety during grinding tasks
Ability to make precise measurements and adjustments to ensure the accuracy of grinding operations
Skills in interpreting technical drawings and specifications to perform accurate grinding tasks

Job Responsibility

Set up grinding machines, including installing and aligning grinding wheels or discs, adjusting speeds, and selecting appropriate grinding tools for the task
Secure and prepare materials or workpieces for grinding, ensuring they are properly positioned and clamped
Operate grinding machines to achieve desired finishes, shapes, and dimensions on metal or other materials
Continuously monitor the grinding process to ensure quality and accuracy, adjusting settings as necessary
Examine finished parts for compliance with specifications and standards, checking for accuracy, surface finish, and any defects
Use measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances
Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacing worn or damaged parts
Follow safety procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
Work with other technicians, machinists, or engineers to complete tasks and meet project requirements
Communicate any issues or discrepancies encountered during the grinding process to supervisors or team members

Operate, monitor and inspect assembly machines, tools, dip tanks, paint lines, impregnators, and other related equipment
Perform minor troubleshooting
Operate all necessary moving, hauling and storing equipment
