Job Description:

Piper Maddox has partnered with a developer who specialise in utility-scale solar & BESS projects. With 500 MW+ of BESS & 2000 MW+ of PV in development, they are looking to add a Grid Engineer to their technical team, who can assist with DSO negotiation and applications for grid access. You’ll be joining a team of 20, with 3 on the technical side.

Job Responsibility:

  • Planning & initial design of grid connections (MV and HV) including all necessary grid infrastructure e.g. cable routes, transformers, substations etc…
  • Assessing locations for grid connections and compatibility of them
  • Determining finance & investment needed for the completed grid connection
  • Processing & submitting grid applications to network operators
  • Coordinating with DSOs to negotiate with them during this process

Requirements:

  • 2 years' minimum experience with grid connections for largescale renewables (wind/solar/BESS)
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with compliance according to VDE-AR-N 4110, 4120
  • Proven experience making grid applications in Germany
  • Experience using grid technologies and software (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, DIgSILENT PowerFactory)
  • FLUENT German required
