Reporting to our Greenhouse Director, the Greenhouse Production Manager will play a key role in launching the operations of Vegpro’s very first semi-closed glass greenhouse dedicated to lettuce production. This highly technological complex features a fully automated production system and climate control. In this role, you will be responsible for all crop and harvesting operations, working closely with your production teams to optimize yield and overall crop performance. You will also be responsible for ensuring strict compliance with all health and safety policies, good agricultural practices, and food safety standards. Through your strong and inspiring leadership, you will actively contribute to developing your team’s knowledge and skills, while preparing future succession and supporting the ongoing growth of your workforce.
Job Responsibility:
Plan activities in line with the automated growth process
Regularly visit greenhouse sections to investigate, document, anticipate, and resolve crop-related issues
Adjust planning based on operational constraints in collaboration with packaging operations teams
Implement standard operating procedures and ensure proper training
Continuously improve processes to optimize production, product quality, and crop performance
Create, maintain, and improve key performance indicators
Lead and participate in research and development projects
Optimize the potential of each crop based on production conditions (growth curves, cultivars, phytosanitary challenges, etc.)
Prepare and communicate harvest forecasts
Contribute to the selection of future cultivars
Ensure that climate management, irrigation, and pest and disease monitoring programs are in place and properly documented
Prepare production summary reports and propose improvements
Participate in research and development projects
Comply with and ensure adherence to all health and safety policies, good agricultural practices (GAP), and food safety procedures
Follow safety standards and measures, and report any hazardous situation or potential contamination
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Ensure that employees work safely by following established codes and measures, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment
Requirements:
Excellent ability to work effectively as part of a team and in a collaborative environment
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or any other relevant field
Over 10 years of experience in agronomy
Proficiency in spoken and written French and English is mandatory
Demonstrated leadership with diverse and multidisciplinary teams
