Job Description:

Alaska Addiction Rehabilitation Services is a non-profit residential treatment program who’s mission is to provide quality client-centered care to residents across the state of Alaska suffering with Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorders. We are looking for an empathetic and enthusiastic Greenhouse Manager to join our mission driven team. The Greenhouse Manager plays a crucial role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture, hydroponics, and managing greenhouse operations. Join us in making a difference in the lives of those we serve by providing exceptional care to those in need.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage daily operations of both soil-based and hydroponic greenhouses, to include: design, setup, and implementation of the hydroponic growing systems, develop and maintain planting and harvest schedules for year round production, and oversee pest and disease prevention, pruning, and transplanting
  • Field and garden management to include: vegetable garden, potato field, apple orchard, and berry patch
  • Supervise greenhouse hands and clients and provide ongoing instruction and mentorship on planting maintenance, and harvesting techniques
  • Coordinate the harvesting, packaging, and transportation of produce to local markets while maintaining accurate records of harvest quantities and market deliveries
  • Maintain greenhouse equipment and keep detailed records of planting dates, crop performance, inputs, and yields

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in greenhouse management
  • Experience in setting up or maintaining hydroponic systems is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage multiple growing areas and meet production goals
  • Strong knowledge of vegetable, orchard, and berry production
  • strong organizational, communication, and record keeping skills
  • Valid drivers license is required
