Job Description

Greenhouse Hand at Alaska Addiction Rehabilitation Services, Inc. Responsible for daily operations and maintenance of greenhouses, plant cultivation, environmental management, inventory tracking, and supervising clients in therapeutic work.

Job Responsibility

  • Growing, cultivating, and harvesting plants
  • Monitoring and regulating greenhouse conditions
  • Identifying and treating plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies
  • Applying fertilizers and pesticides safely
  • Maintaining planting schedules and forecasting plant production
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of greenhouse facilities
  • Performing routine maintenance and equipment inspections
  • Tracking and reporting inventory of plants, produce, tools, and supplies
  • Submitting monthly reports on production and usage
  • Assisting in supervising client work assignments in the greenhouse
  • Supporting therapeutic work experiences in coordination with clinical staff
  • Documenting client participation and progress
  • Maintaining confidentiality in compliance with state and federal laws
  • Maintaining logs, records, and compliance documentation
  • Attending staff meetings and required trainings
  • Assisting with staff training on greenhouse operations
  • Responding to emergencies as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge or experience in plant care, horticulture, or agriculture
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds and perform physical labor
  • Valid Alaska driver's license with an insurable record
  • Ability to pass a background check with variance consideration if applicable
  • Basic computer and record-keeping skills
  • CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain them within 30 days of hire
  • TB test within 30 days of hire

Nice to have

  • Experience working in behavioral health, social services, or recovery settings
  • Familiarity with Alaska Native cultures
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems and greenhouse operations
  • Alaska Water and Wastewater Operator certification for a small system
  • Experience working with diverse or vulnerable populations
