Job Description:

The casual Greek Interpreter position sits within the Language Services Department. Interpreters play an essential role in ensuring access to services and meaningful participation in the care patients receive at Austin Health. Interpreters may be required to provide interpreting face to face, telephone or video. Where required for face-to-face interpreting, interpreters travel to appointments using the free staff shuttle bus between campuses.

Job Responsibility:

  • Interpret for patients and Austin Health staff
  • Maintain accurate statistics of interpreting work undertaken on the (Interpreter Management System) IMS in a timely manner
  • Work collaboratively with Austin Health staff to ensure a timely and effective service
  • Assist administration staff with allocations of appointments (time permitting)

Requirements:

  • NAATI Certified Greek Interpreter Level
  • Extensive vocabulary in certified languages and knowledge of medical and health terminology
  • Experience as a Certified Interpreter in a medical setting

Nice to have:

Certified provisional interpreters with extensive medical experience may be considered
