Melon Local is seeking a graphic designer with video editing capabilities to support our marketing team with production-level design and video content tasks. This person will primarily execute projects assigned by our senior designer, video editor, or marketing director, ensuring all work adheres to our established brand identity and guidelines. While there is room to contribute ideas and offer creative guidance, this role is largely execution-focused. The designer will help scale content production, maintain consistency across platforms and support our team in delivering high-quality marketing assets. All assets will be provided via our organized Google Drive library, including templates, raw footage and design files.

Job Responsibility

  • Execute assigned graphic design projects from the senior designer or marketing director
  • Resizing and formatting graphics for different social media platforms
  • Creating new graphics based on supplied templates or assets
  • Adjusting existing designs according to specific requests
  • Maintain organized access to our asset library and ensure proper file naming and storage
  • Assist with video editing projects assigned by the video editor or marketing director
  • Combining raw footage into timelines based on direction
  • Adding captions, transitions, overlays and other basic edits while maintaining brand consistency
  • Supporting temporary coverage needs, such as during team absences
  • Camera operation support is a plus for capturing content when needed
  • Work closely with the marketing director, senior designer and video editor to clarify project instructions and deadlines
  • Provide input and suggestions when appropriate, but ensure final output stays true to Melon Local’s brand identity and guidelines
  • Participate in weekly check-ins and content planning sessions

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of professional graphic design experience
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficient in Canva
  • Experience with video editing software and short-form video content
  • Strong design sense and eye for layout, typography and branding
  • Basic understanding of social media content formats and requirements
  • Fast learner, proactive and able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented

Nice to have

  • Camera operation experience
  • Email design experience
  • Motion graphics or animated social media content experience
  • Familiarity with file naming conventions and project management tools (Asana, Monday, etc.)

What we offer

  • Join a fun, fast-paced marketing team producing high-volume creative content
  • Opportunity to support real production work and increase output across graphics and video
  • Clear expectations and feedback loops
  • Collaborative in-office environment with direct access to the marketing team
