Job Description:

Join IKEA as a Graphic Communication Leader to inspire and oversee customer store communication, develop strategies that enhance the shopping experience, and lead the creation of unique visual identities that reflect IKEA's core values. This role emphasizes people management, creative processes, and aligning with customer needs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Taking a leading role in overseeing the complete range of customer store communication
  • applying knowledge and understanding of people’s life at home and their buying behaviour to improve graphic communication inside and outside the IKEA store
  • using graphic design skills, the IKEA Concept, and IKEA visual and copy identity to create and implement graphic solutions
  • lead and challenge the Com&In team and other functions to strengthen IKEA identity in store communication
  • lead the process of planning and implementing store communication aligned with the IKEA Concept
  • develop, implement and evaluate store communication strategies supporting a better shopping experience
  • actively support department action plans focused on growing the business and supporting long-term profitability
  • contribute in the network of store Graphic Communication Leaders and share solutions and best practices
  • set clear expectations and work with others to act quickly on commercial opportunities
  • secure high standards for visual balance, consistency, and sustainability in store communication
  • stay updated on home furnishing, communication, and retail design trends to inspire store visitors
  • secure succession planning by identifying potential candidates.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a graphic communications team within an IKEA company, an advertising agency or retail design studio
  • enjoy taking responsibility and acting as an inspiring and motivating leader
  • education and experience in graphic communication design, media and typography
  • proven success in managing, inspiring, leading and developing people and creative processes
  • experience of visually expressing a brand identity
  • commercial and visual competence with a keen eye for aesthetics
  • experience of working in a fast retail environment
  • proven customer-focused mindset
  • clear communication and coaching skills, i.e. the ability to explain concepts verbally and visual interpretation
  • set and implement action plans over a number of years, set expectations, provide clear direction and follow up goals
  • proven ability to prioritise and organise work and the work of others in order to make the most efficient use of available time and meet agreed goals and deadlines
  • communicate confidently and clearly in English
  • experience of problem solving
  • computer proficient with knowledge and experience of using graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and production tools
  • motivated by IKEA values and passion for retailing and developing teams
  • ability to combine and identify commercial, aesthetic and practical skills
  • build trust and communicate clearly with different people and groups
  • good analytical and strategic skills to steer the store business over short-, mid- and long-term.
