Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Grants Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in writing successful grant proposals. The Grants Writer will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, update reports, stewardship briefing documents, and relevant correspondence narrative. (i.e. Thank You letters) This role will also work cooperatively with the Grants manager to ensure compliance with grant requirements to secure funding for our organization’s initiatives.

Job Responsibility

  • Research Funding Opportunities: Identify and evaluate potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources that align with the organization’s mission and goals
  • Proposal Development: Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals that effectively communicate the organization’s needs, objectives, and impact. Tailor proposals to meet the specific requirements of each funder
  • Collaboration: Work closely with program staff, finance teams, and leadership to gather necessary information and data for proposals and update reports. Facilitate discussions to ensure alignment on project goals and outcomes
  • General Development Writing: Write thank you letters to individual and institutional donors as well as briefing documents that summarize the organization’s programmatic priorities for donor stewardship and acquisition purposes
  • Grant Management: Work with the Grants Manager to maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, ensure timely submission of proposals and reports, and monitor the status of submitted proposals
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit required reports to funders, detailing project progress, outcomes, and financial expenditures. Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and guidelines
  • Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with trends in grant funding and changes in the nonprofit sector to enhance the organization’s grant-seeking efforts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant writing, technical writing, or a related field
  • Proven success in securing grants from various funding sources
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software
