We are seeking a detail-oriented Grant Accounting Support professional to provide fiscal oversight for Head Start and Early Head Start programs, including management of related federal, state, and other funding sources. The ideal candidate will support financial operations through report preparation, budget development, and compliance monitoring.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to funders, Policy Council, and program management
Monitor grant/contract expenditures, comparing actuals to approved budgets and reporting any inconsistencies
Collaborate with program staff to develop budgets and narratives for funding applications
Ensure compliance with federal and state funding requirements, including Head Start regulations and Uniform Guidance
Perform grant close-out activities such as reconciliations, financial status reports, and final invoicing
Record monthly revenue and receivables, and review weekly cash drawdowns for accuracy and compliance
Maintain accuracy of general ledger entries
prepare adjusting journal entries as needed
Review AP transactions for proper coding, allowability, allocability, and compliance
provide training on financial best practices to program staff
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience, including general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting
Experience in nonprofit accounting and government-funded grant management (preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with an emphasis in Accounting/Finance
Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree
Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost allocation, and nonprofit financial regulations
Proficient in Excel (including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and formula linking)
Experienced with computerized accounting systems and report generation
Familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT (preferred)
Nice to have:
Experience in nonprofit accounting and government-funded grant management
