We are looking for a Grant Accountant to support a non-profit organization in New York, New York with accurate financial oversight of grant-funded programs. This Long-term Contract position focuses on maintaining compliance with government and federal funding requirements, strengthening reporting accuracy, and ensuring grant activity is properly recorded across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in grant accounting, audit support, and financial systems such as Dynamics NAV while partnering with internal teams on funding-related matters.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the financial administration of grant awards, ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and align with sponsor guidelines
Prepare and review grant-related reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for internal stakeholders and external funding agencies
Monitor spending against approved budgets and identify variances, recommending corrective actions when needed
Maintain compliance with federal and government grant regulations, including documentation standards tied to agencies such as DHS and HUD
Support audit activity by assembling financial records, responding to inquiries, and validating the accuracy of grant documentation
Collaborate with program and finance teams to track restricted funding, allowable costs, and reimbursement timelines
Use Dynamics NAV to manage accounting entries, reporting processes, and data integrity for grant-funded operations
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in grant accounting within a non-profit or similarly regulated environment
Strong knowledge of government and federal grant compliance requirements
Hands-on experience managing grant reporting, reconciliations, and budget tracking
Proficiency with Dynamics NAV or a comparable accounting system
Familiarity with audit preparation and responding to financial review requests
Understanding of funding requirements associated with agencies such as DHS and HUD
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in high-volume financial environments
