Job Description:

The Graduate Pharmacy Intern position offers an opportunity to apply learning and develop skills through hands-on experience. Responsibilities include assisting pharmacy operations, learning Standard Operating Procedures, providing excellent patient interactions, and building technical and clinical knowledge. In addition, the intern will support services like immunizations and engage with a diverse team fostering a supportive and inclusive culture.

Job Responsibility:

Follow company SOPs at each workstation
follow pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
create personalized moments for patients at various contact points
field medical questions and counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist
clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes with prescribers
put away medication deliveries and complete inventory activities
provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members
operate flexibly to meet scheduling and business needs
comply with all legal and ethical principles
deliver additional patient health care services like immunizations and point-of-care testing where permissible
obtain informed consent for vaccines
monitor and respond to adverse reactions to vaccines.

Requirements:

PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program
ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe
valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
ability to pivot quickly from one task to another
ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
use and understand verbal and written communication
utilize active listening
ability to use math to solve a problem
identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and resolving appropriately
be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
lift, scan, and bag items
reach overhead
move fingers repetitively
extend hand(s) and arm(s) in multiple directions
stoop to move items between low and high positions
close visual acuity for transcribing and reading
occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs
express or exchange ideas clearly
receive detailed information through oral communication.

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
ability to become immunization certified
ability to work in home store and across the market
proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
