Job Description:

As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health, you will apply knowledge from pharmacy school to real-world practice while supporting pharmacy teams to deliver patient care. Responsibilities include prescription fulfillment, inventory management, patient counseling, and preparing for licensure as a pharmacist. The position focuses on professional growth through training and mentoring.

Job Responsibility:

  • Living company purpose by following all SOPs to manage and improve patient health
  • Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences with empathy and care
  • Maintain inventory activities such as cycle counts and returns-to-stock
  • Provide patient counseling and health care services like immunizations
  • Operate as part of the pharmacy team applying SOPs
  • Travel to other stores to meet business needs if required
  • Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and CVS policies
  • Support management and oversight within the pharmacy as readiness increases
  • Deliver additional patient services such as point-of-care testing and staffing offsite clinics as allowable by law

Requirements:

  • PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
  • Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
  • Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy ensuring patient safety
  • Actively look for ways to help people and do so in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying ensuring understanding
  • Ability to use math to solve a problem such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense and day’s supply
  • Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
  • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • Lift, scan, and bag items
  • Reach overhead to grasp items
  • Move fingers repetitively for tasks such as typing or picking items
  • Frequently lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Follow company SOPs to ensure patient safety and compliance
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy retail medical or customer service setting
  • Ability to become immunization certified as per state regulations
  • Ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
