Job Responsibility

  • Attending disciplinary meetings with members both on and off site
  • Attending and appearing in matters before the Fair Work Commission
  • Providing advice to the Director on contract reviews, employment, safety, award and internal matters
  • Attending and participating in enterprise bargaining
  • Attending meetings with, and advocating on behalf of members in statutory safety investigations

Requirements

  • Obtained or nearing completion of law degree
  • A demonstrated commitment to trade union principles
  • Strong legal and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • A current driver’s licence
  • A willingness to travel to site
  • Refined and plain language communication styles
  • Experience working for a union or other types of campaigning organisations is preferable

  • Provide support for Disciplinary Hearings, including bundle preparation, witness statement drafting and coordinating witnesses
  • Attendance at the British Cycling Safeguarding Case Management Group to present information and participate in group discussion as required
  • Escalate unresolved problems and adjust tasks as appropriate or directed by the Compliance and Safeguarding Managers to meet changing demands
  • Provide advice to and liaise with colleagues, members, volunteers and partner organisations on compliance matters, including disciplinary, anti-doping and safeguarding
