Stantec are seeking talented Civil Engineering Graduates to join our Community Development teams in Cairns, QLD

Job Responsibility

  • Assist in preparing civil designs, calculations, drawings, reports and cost estimates using industry-standard software (12D, AutoCAD) and applicable engineering codes and standards
  • Support senior engineers with project coordination, documentation, stakeholder communication and liaising with authorities to facilitate timely approvals
  • Undertake site visits and construction-phase support including inspections, progress reporting, contract administration tasks and responding to technical queries
  • Contribute to safe, high‑quality project delivery by maintaining professional standards and ensuring work meets company expectations for accuracy, service, and compliance
  • Actively develop technical capability by engaging in on‑the‑job learning, applying engineering concepts to real projects, and staying current with evolving industry practices

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
  • Passion for learning and problem-solving
  • Valid Manual Driver's Licence
  • Australian Citizen, PR or NZ Citizen
  • Currently in final year of degree or 1-2 years post-graduation

  • Physical ability: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work.
  • Work environment adaptability: You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress.
