Open to students enrolled in any program within the entire College of Education and Applied Human Sciences (CEAHS). The Department of Applied Human Sciences is seeking a Graduate Assistant. This is a stipend position for 20 hours each week beginning in Fall 2026. The graduate assistant will generally work a standard weekly schedule but must be flexible for things such as training and fine dining meals, as well as some evening or weekend work.
Job Responsibility
Supervision of students enrolled in food preparation courses
Assisting faculty/staff with laboratory tasks, maintenance, and/or supervision
Supervise and maintain food safety and sanitation
Supervise and maintain an efficient, clean, well-organized lab space including laundering linens, upkeep of composting efforts, and inventory
Assistance with tasks related to Café Burrier, the student-run restaurant, in Fall semesters
Assistance in food procurement and preparation
Supervision of students in other lab spaces such as the sewing/textile labs
Obtain a Food Handler’s Card/Certification for Madison County, Kentucky through the Madison County Health Department
Aid in faculty research and course content development
Create professional PowerPoint presentations
Utilize Blackboard to create quizzes, assignments, and post course materials
Grade assignments, quizzes, and other course requirements using a rubric
Acts in compliance with University policies, procedures and standards

Must be enrolled at EKU.

Preference for applicants with minimal daytime classes or clinical work
Ability to work some evenings and weekend
Food Handlers Card for Madison County Kentucky
Reliable, consistent access to a working VEHICLE during work hours and valid driver's license.
