MVRCS is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated English Teacher for Grades 7–12. The ideal candidate is passionate about literature and writing instruction and committed to delivering a rigorous, content-rich curriculum. This role includes instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge and Great Books programs, with opportunities to teach within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework at the high school level.
Job Responsibility
Implement the Grades 7–12 English curriculum, including the Great Books program and, where applicable, IB coursework
Teach up to five classes daily, aligned with established curriculum and instructional expectations
Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons with clear, measurable learning objectives
Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, meaningful feedback through progress reports and report cards
Administer standardized assessments as directed by the English Department Chair and Leadership Team
Collaborate weekly with the English Department to align curriculum, analyze student data, and refine instructional practices
Maintain a structured and orderly classroom environment using the school’s discipline model
Participate actively in staff meetings and ongoing professional development
Perform additional duties as assigned by the English Department Chair or Assistant Director
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in English required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze data, assess student performance, and adjust instruction accordingly
Demonstrated ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
Collaborative mindset with a commitment to team-based problem solving
Deep content knowledge in English language arts and literature
Ability to design and deliver instruction aligned with school and curricular goals
Experience evaluating student performance and producing clear, data-informed reports
Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment
