As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school and pharmacy practice into real-world practice to become ready for a Pharmacist role. Under the direction of your preceptor and District Leader, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation designed to further your knowledge of store, district, and regional operations.
Job Responsibility
Assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly
Fill patients’ prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately
Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations
Operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication
Demonstrate empathy and genuine care
Contribute to a safe and inclusive culture
Complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation
Deepen understanding of patient safety and error prevention, quality assurance drug utilization review (DUR), pharmacy professional standards
Support immunizations including educating patients, obtaining informed consent, monitoring for adverse reactions
Perform basic inventory activities
Take telephonic prescriptions from prescriber
Offer to counsel and field medical questions
Maintain self-awareness and provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs
Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Deliver additional patient health care services as allowed by law
Requirements
PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines. Failure to obtain required Pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation will result in separation of employment.
Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
Nice to have
1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to become immunization certified: Once state regulations are met, pharmacy interns should be striving to provide patient immunizations as this is an essential pharmacist function
Ability to work in home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
