Job Description

The Japan Government Relations, Public Sector Sales Director drives sales strategy and execution for AMD Japan’s business in the public sector. This role includes working closely with our WW Government Relations team to receive appropriate support at the corporate level as well as working with the Japanese local government to drive key initiatives to accelerate AMD’s business growth in Japan.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop growth strategy for sovereign AI and other key government related initiatives
  • Work with key local Japanese companies to define appropriate routes to market and maximize investments from Japanese Government
  • Keep up to date on latest technology trends in Japan and globally
  • Be trusted advisor within AMD on cultural differences in Japan
  • Senior leader responsible for all public sector sales opportunities in Client, Server and GPU
  • Provide guidance on competitive differentiation, platform strengths, and design trade-offs
  • Create virtual teams to drive public sector related opportunities
  • Work closely with GAMs/OEMs and Channel Partners on GTM strategies
  • Drive alignment with METI/MEXT and appropriate routes to market
  • Collaborate with solution providers and ISVs for solution readiness
  • Build communities within Japan to promote AMD solutions
  • Serve as point of contact for navigating complexities with local government
  • Stay up to date on governmental relationships with key countries
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders for one-voice execution

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in technology sales in the public sector
  • Strong understanding of local market dynamics related to government movements
  • Strong understanding of technology trends that impact government investments including technology purchases within government divisions
  • Strong understanding of data center business including power requirements, design and how large implementations are done
  • Strong understanding of the academic community and how local universities budget and invest in technology including HPC and AI
  • Proven experience working with OEMs, CSPs, and enterprise customers in complex technical sales cycles
  • Demonstrated ability to translate deep technical concepts into business and customer value
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent Japanese speaker a plus with proven relations with key Japanese government entities and officials
  • Strong business acumen, communication and deal making skills
  • Comfortable coordinating across global, matrixed organizations
  • Strategic mindset with practical execution focus
  • Effective collaborator across cultures and regions in APJ
