Join T&E in driving policy change for clean transport and energy in Asia-Pacific. For more than 35 years, T&E (Transport & Environment) has been at the forefront of advancing clean transport and energy policies through evidence-based research, strategic advocacy, and impactful communications. Since expanding into the Asia-Pacific region, T&E has built a growing presence in Singapore, Indonesia and Australia, producing influential research and data analysis on shipping, aviation, heavy transport, electrification and e-fuels. We are now seeking an experienced and politically astute Government Affairs & Advocacy Lead to strengthen the bridge between technical analysis and real-world policy outcomes across the region. This role will focus on building strategic relationships with governments, regulators, political stakeholders and industry leaders, translating research into actionable policy engagement, and helping drive meaningful decarbonization policy change in Singapore. The successful candidate will be based in Singapore and work closely with T&Es teams across Brussels and Asia-Pacific.
Job Responsibility
Build and maintain relationships with ministries, regulators, political advisors, and government agencies in Singapore and possibly across the region
Monitor policy, regulatory, and legislative developments related to transport, energy, and climate
Translate technical research and data analysis into concise policy briefings and recommendations, and vice versa
Organize policy roundtables, government briefings, and stakeholder dialogues
Engage directly with policymakers and regulators to advance T&E’s policy priorities
Develop advocacy and political engagement strategies to support T&E’s Singapore and regional activities
Identify key political leverage points, decision-makers and stakeholder dynamics
Design policy change pathways and advocacy roadmaps aligned with T&E’s regional priorities
Work closely with campaign, research and communications teams across APAC and Brussels
Support strategic positioning of T&E in regional policy debates and international forums
Build networks with think tanks, academia, civil society organizations and industry stakeholders
Coordinate with international partners, NGOs and institutional stakeholders
Represent T&E in high-level meetings, conferences and policy discussions across the region
Analyze transport, energy and climate policies in Singapore and APAC markets
Review regulatory and legal frameworks relevant to decarbonization pathways
Support the development of policy reports, briefings and consultation submissions
Translate technical and economic analysis into policy-oriented narratives and recommendations
Help identify emerging policy opportunities and political risks
Act as a spokesperson for T&E on policy and advocacy issues in Singapore
Participate in media briefings, interviews and public discussions
Represent T&E at conferences, workshops and industry events
Deliver presentations and briefings for governments, companies, NGOs and research institutions
Support strategic communications and public positioning efforts
Requirements
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, advocacy, political engagement or strategic communications
Strong understanding of transport, energy and shipping policy in Singapore
Demonstrated experience engaging policymakers, regulators and senior stakeholders
Experience working in NGOs, public affairs, consulting, think tanks or government is highly desirable
Strong political judgement and stakeholder management capability
Excellent writing and presentation skills, including policy briefings and executive-level communication
Ability to translate technical or research-based content into actionable policy narratives
Strong understanding of Singapore political and regulatory environments
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and multicultural environment
Experience coordinating cross-regional or international projects is an advantage
Fluency in English required
