Job Description

A warm and proactive family based in Pimlico are seeking a qualified Teacher with Governess experience to support their two children (B3 and G6), with a particular focus on their son, who is nearly 4. The little boy is highly intelligent and academically advanced for his age; he can count to 100 and confidently read and write all letters. However, he is currently reluctant to form full sentences, despite there being no underlying developmental concerns. The family are looking for a patient, structured and engaging Governess who can confidently support his speech and expressive language development while maintaining firm but kind boundaries. This is a long-term, live-out role with preferably an ASAP start.

Job Responsibility

  • Focus on speech and language development for B3 (nearly 4)
  • Encourage sentence formation through structured EYFS-led activities
  • Deliver engaging, play-based learning tailored to his ability level
  • Support confidence, communication, and emotional expression
  • Provide age-appropriate academic support to G6 as required
  • Establish clear, consistent boundaries and routines
  • Liaise with parents regarding progress and development
  • Travel with the family as and when required

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher (essential)
  • Additional training or experience in Speech & Language Development / Therapy (highly desirable)
  • Native English speaker with a neutral accent (essential for learning purposes)
  • Proven experience working with children of a similar age
  • Patient, calm and confident in implementing firm but fair boundaries
  • Creative, engaging and passionate about child development
  • Professional, discreet and reliable

Nice to have

Travel flexibility (would be beneficial)
