Job Description:

Governance, Reporting and Advisory Specialist function within US COO, accountable for driving the effective governance and management of non-financial risks in the First Line of Defense. Ensures the bank operates within its risk appetite by providing specialist risk and control knowledge and promoting ongoing risk and control monitoring.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide quality risk and control analysis and develop guidance for stakeholders on the Risk Management Framework
  • Facilitate senior management decision making by providing assessments of risk and control environment
  • Cultivate a positive controls culture and a culture of continuous improvement when interacting with stakeholders on control related matters
  • Develop relevant risk management reporting for Board and Executives as required
  • Make considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation and business

Requirements:

  • Intellectually curious, willing to dive into issues to identify root causes and think critically on sustainable solutions
  • Ability to build and shape narratives and work with CCO staff to influence senior management on a variety of risk-management-related topics
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently and distil complex, ambiguous information to create insights for leaders
  • Ability to quickly analyse a status quo and identify opportunities for continuous improvement or process re-engineering
  • Advanced Excel and PPT skills, ability to create process design/analysis, as well as understanding of basic AI capabilities
  • Deep understanding of Risk Management Framework, and ability to provide guidance and advice to the senior business stakeholders on a variety of Risk and Control topics
  • Good understanding of accounting principles is important
  • Senior individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, that can negotiate and effectively challenge senior stakeholders
  • Ability to operate independently and problem solve
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
