We’re on the hunt for a Governance Officer to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes! You’ll support boards and committees, maintain governance standards, and make a real impact on the communities we serve. As Governance Officer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring high standards of governance across the organisation. It’s a varied and rewarding role where your attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to build strong relationships will make a real difference.
Job Responsibility:
Support boards and committees
Maintain governance standards
Take ownership of board and committee meetings, preparing agendas and producing accurate minutes
Provide impartial advice on governance matters
Maintain statutory records
Support non-executive directors and trustees throughout their tenure - including recruitment, induction, development and appraisal planning
Deliver governance training
Promote a culture of compliance and best practice
Contribute to regulatory returns, policy administration, and external audits
Requirements:
Previous experience of minute-taking at senior levels
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence to engage at all levels
Strong literacy and IT skills
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for business purposes
Experience delivering governance training or supporting audits
Knowledge of governance frameworks and compliance requirements
Nice to have:
