Job Description

We are seeking a Global Transmission Engineer to ensure high availability, stability, and performance of optical transmission networks and platforms across the Vodafone Global Network, supporting both internal platforms and enterprise customer services on a 24x7 basis.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide end-to-end operational ownership for global transmission networks to meet agreed SLA and KPI targets
  • restore service for complex, multi-technology incidents, minimising mean time to repair and acting as subject matter expert during major incidents
  • support network build, provisioning, infrastructure maintenance, and onboarding of new networks and systems
  • plan, manage, and support change and project activities with a strong focus on risk mitigation and zero change-related incidents
  • perform root cause analysis for major incidents and escalations, contributing to technical reports for customers and senior management
  • collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and partners to resolve faults and deliver customer-focused outcomes
  • prepare detailed performance and benefit analysis, while continuously improving operational processes and team effectiveness

Requirements

  • experienced transmission or optical network professional with strong hands-on exposure to SDH, DWDM, OTN, and Ethernet technologies
  • confident in working with network management and operational support systems such as Ciena, Huawei, Infinera platforms, and associated EMS/NMS tools
  • calm, resilient, and methodical when working under pressure in a real-time operational environment
  • clear and inclusive communicator, able to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, and colleagues across multiple regions
  • committed to quality, security standards, knowledge sharing, and continuous self-development
