Job Description

We are seeking a International Trade & Customs Counsel to join our Trade team. This role focuses on import and customs compliance, U.S. trade regulations, and global sanctions frameworks. Candidates may come from legal or compliance backgrounds.

Job Responsibility

  • Advise on U.S. Customs regulations, import classifications, tariffs, and trade audits
  • Provide guidance on U.S. and U.K. sanctions regimes, export controls, and third-party due diligence
  • Support clients in developing and implementing compliance frameworks for international trade operations
  • Conduct internal reviews and risk assessments related to import/export activity and sanctions exposure
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders across industries - particularly manufacturing and semiconductors - to ensure operational and regulatory alignment

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in international trade compliance, customs, or regulatory investigations
  • Deep understanding of U.S. import and customs laws, including tariff classification, valuation, and duty compliance
  • Familiarity with OFAC, BIS, and U.K. sanctions frameworks
  • Proven ability to provide clear, practical guidance on global trade issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal education

Nice to have

  • Experience working with semiconductor, manufacturing, or industrial sectors
  • Background in customs brokerage, import operations, or regulatory compliance programs
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a project-based, flexible engagement model
