Job Description

The Global Mobility Tax Specialist is responsible for managing corporate global mobility individual tax compensation reporting and finance processes. This position works with cross-functional teammates and external partners in the U.S. and internationally to provide guidance on mobility individual tax concepts, ensure compliance, foster continuous program improvements, and elevate the overall mobility stakeholder experience. The specialist serves as a subject matter expert on global assignment individual tax projects and inquiries and partners closely with finance, payroll, compensation, stock/deferred compensation, business contacts, the mobility team, and vendors. This role requires proficiency in navigating the complexities of U.S. and global tax rules as they relate to international assignees and evolving business needs.

Job Responsibility

  • Act as the primary contact for the mobility team, HR business partners, cross-functional groups, and international assignees on cost estimates, assignment planning, tax questions, and business inquiries
  • Oversee mobility tax programs, escalating and resolving policy issues as needed
  • Advise on tax implications of cross-border remote work requests
  • Conduct periodic benchmarking of tax policy and market practices
  • Deliver clear communications and conduct educational sessions for internal stakeholders
  • Monitor changes in relevant tax laws and recommend/process adjustments and cost analysis for tax equalization
  • Build and maintain partnerships across the mobility, finance, payroll, compensation, and tax teams as well as with business partners and external vendors
  • Manage and resolve escalations related to mobility tax matters
  • Oversee tax equalization calculations, collections, and payments
  • Manage end-to-end processing for mobility-related payments, invoices, and gross-ups
  • Monitor and operate shadow payroll and secondment agreements
  • Oversee social security agreements and annual reviews of hypothetical tax/social tax adjustments
  • Review annual equity vesting for mobile employee populations
  • Support implementation and optimization of technology platforms for cost estimates, assignment packages, and orientation materials
  • Oversee vendor relationships to maintain compliance and deliver high-quality tax services
  • Review and manage the list of assignees authorized for external tax provider services
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of U.S. and international individual mobility tax laws and concepts
  • Experience in global mobility, tax, compensation, payroll, or related fields
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to foster collaboration and drive process improvements
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Experience with tax compliance technology platforms and process automation preferred
