Job Description

The Global Medical Lead is responsible for driving the global medical strategy for assigned therapeutic areas, ensuring scientific excellence, compliance, and alignment with corporate objectives. This role serves as the primary medical authority, providing leadership and guidance across regions to support product development, launch, and lifecycle management.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and execute global medical plans that align with corporate and brand strategies
  • Provide medical input into global business planning, forecasting, and portfolio prioritization
  • Anticipate future trends in therapeutic areas and integrate insights into strategic planning
  • Cultivate Medical Education to advance the science, raise disease state awareness, and facilitate understanding of data results
  • Develop pre & peri launch readiness plans aligned with key stakeholders to create a scientific foundation for pipeline assets transitioning to product portfolio
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned therapeutic areas
  • Ensure scientific integrity and accuracy of all medical content, including publications, promotional materials, and training
  • Oversee development of global scientific platforms and messaging
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial teams to ensure integrated strategies
  • Support evidence generation plans, including clinical trials, real-world evidence, and investigator-initiated studies
  • Collaborate with regional medical teams to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), professional societies, and patient advocacy groups

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, or Life Sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in medical affairs or clinical development, with at least 5 years in a global leadership role
  • Proven track record of strategic planning and execution in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Experience managing international teams and budgets
  • Therapeutic Area Expertise: Deep knowledge of disease biology, treatment paradigms, and emerging trends
  • Clinical Development: Understanding of trial design, endpoints, and statistical principles
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FDA, EMA, and ICH guidelines
