Job Description

Global Financial Controller | A Global Retail Icon | London | Up to £110k The Company Harmonic are excited to be partnering with one of the most recognised and beloved consumer brands in the world. This is a business with a huge following, a global footprint, and a product that genuinely makes people smile. The finance function sits at the heart of a business in confident growth mode. With a 30 + person finance team, a sophisticated international operation, and ambitious plans for continued expansion, the organisation is investing in the leadership infrastructure to match its ambitions. This role is a direct result of that growth. The Role This is a newly created Group Financial Controller position. Reporting into the Finance Director and sitting at the top of a 15+ person team, you will own the full financial control and accounts payable function for the group. You will be the engine room of the finance function: the person who ensures that every number is right, every process is tight, and every team member knows exactly what they are doing and why it matters. You will be a trusted partner to the wider finance leadership team, with a remit that touches every corner of the function. This is a role for someone who leads from the front and who builds teams, fixes problems before they escalate, and brings genuine gravitas to a function that touches every corner of a complex, multi-entity, multi-currency business.

Job Responsibility

  • End-to-end financial control across the group, including month-end and year-end close, balance sheet integrity, and statutory and audit processes
  • Full ownership of the Accounts Payable function including payment runs, invoice processing, banking controls, and supplier master data
  • Inventory and stock accounting across a significant global stock holding, ensuring accurate valuation, movement tracking, and reconciliation
  • Day-to-day leadership of a 15+ person team
  • Internal controls framework which includes designing, maintaining, and continuously improving the control environment in line with audit requirements and best practice
  • Process improvement and systems optimisation, particularly in the context of ongoing ERP development and automation opportunities

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience managing 15+ direct reports in-house, not outsourced teams, with the presence and emotional intelligence to lead across all levels of seniority
  • International or global business exposure, ideally including multi-currency, multi-entity environments
  • A process-driven mindset with strong systems proficiency and a track record of improving financial operations at scale
  • Experience in retail, consumer goods, or global brands with significant product inventory (£15m+ stock holding)
