The Global EHSS Governance Leader will document and implement programs to maintain compliance, execute audits, reduce risk and deliver Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) excellence across FBIN. This role will manage the company’s EHSS audit program strategy and set standards for evaluating and sustaining compliance with applicable EHSS laws, regulations, and FBIN expectations. This position engages in structured problem-solving, provides key input to senior leadership to support decision making, and acts as the subject matter expert on initiatives and projects for the organization globally. The Global EHSS Governance Leader will report to EHSS Operational Excellence and will be a member of the Corporate FBIN EHSS team.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and implement EHSS governance standards in alignment with regulations and FBIN EHSS operating system
Support regional and site-level teams to ensure consistent execution of EHSS standards
Lead, in cooperation with other FBIN EHSS staff, the development and execution of a global, risk-based EHS auditing plan for compliance, risk reduction, and program execution
Drive rigorous audit finding closure process
identify specific high-risk audit findings for closure validation by Corporate EHSS team members or other Subject Matter Experts
identify audit findings with broad applicability to be shared and/or assigned to multiple sites
Use deep domain expertise and audit findings to identify, develop and lead improvement initiatives across the global organization that reduce compliance risk and improve EHSS impact of operations
Serve as subject matter expert for Fortune Brands Innovations in the areas of EHSS governance, including compliance assurance and auditing
partner cross-functionally with Operations, Legal, HR, Sourcing, Quality, Customs, and Compliance functions to investigate and monitor EHSS-related concerns
Represent FBIN in external EHS audit-related forums
benchmark with companies of similar size and/or risk
represent FBIN as subject matter leader with external stakeholders as needed
Train, coach, and develop EHSS network resources to improve audit skills and compliance risk assessment capabilities
set standards for auditor qualification and training development
Liaise with other audit functions in FBIN- particularly Code of Conduct, Sourcing, Quality and Compliance to align coverage and resources and drive out duplication
support ISO 14001, 45001, 50001 audits as needed
In alignment with Director EHSS Compliance and Environment, set expectations for and oversee systems to support regulatory compliance monitoring and adherence across FBIN operations globally
Prepare and deliver governance-related internal and external communications and reporting
Partner with operations to drive culture, compliance, and continuous improvement
Measure and communicate governance outcomes through global scorecards and development/implementation of leading indicators
EHS Compliance Systems Oversight: Provide global governance and oversight of EHSS compliance systems used to manage regulatory requirements, permits, audits, corrective actions, inspections, and compliance obligations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. In lieu of a degree, commensurate experience may be considered
A minimum of 10 years of related experience required, including at least 5 leading EHSS/compliance programs in a manufacturing environment
Extensive experience conducting EHSS audits and compliance assessments
Experience with global operations and regulations, including advanced knowledge of certain federal/state EHSS regulations and authorities
Experience with complex permit requirements and procedures
Project management experience, including managing budgets, timelines and deliverables
experience evaluating and managing third party consultants
Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 programs and assessment requirements
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as organizations outside FBIN (customers and regulatory agencies)
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally without restriction
ability to travel up to 35%
