Job Description

Make a difference every day with ICare Group. At ICare Group, we’re more than a meals service — we’re a vital support network for people in our communities. Our Meals Division operates from five depots across the UK, including two in Scotland, delivering over half a million nutritious meals each year alongside essential wellbeing checks. Our work helps elderly and vulnerable individuals remain independent, safe, and cared for in their own homes. We’re now looking for an experienced, people‑focused Manager to lead our Glasgow Meals on Wheels service. This is a key leadership role for someone passionate about community services and operational excellence, with the drive to lead change and inspire teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Overseeing the day‑to‑day operation of the Meals on Wheels service, ensuring high standards of service, safety, and efficiency
  • Managing, motivating, and supporting a team of 40+ staff, including rota planning, scheduling, and performance management
  • Leading administrative processes, ensuring accurate, compliant, and up‑to‑date records
  • Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards, including investigating incidents where required
  • Building strong, positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders through compassionate and professional leadership
  • Leading team meetings and contributing to continuous improvement and service development
  • Monitoring and reporting on KPIs such as delivery performance, cost efficiency, compliance, and client satisfaction

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role, including experience implementing and leading change
  • Experience working in an operational and/or office environment
  • Proven ability to lead teams and effectively manage staff performance
  • Background in community services, care, food services, hospitality, or retail — ideally supporting elderly or vulnerable people
  • Experience recruiting, supporting, and managing staff across a range of roles, including kitchen staff, office staff, and Community Assistants (Drivers)
  • Strong communication, customer service, and numeracy skills
  • Confidence managing rotas, schedules, and inventory systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Calm under pressure, proactive, and highly organised
  • Able to work independently, prioritise workload, and manage time effectively
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and comfortable handling cash
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
  • Willingness to undergo background checks
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends

Nice to have

NVQ Level 3 in Food Hygiene and/or Health & Safety (or equivalent)
