Job Description

The GIS Manager will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of GIS and infrastructure asset management services both internally and externally, supporting growth in these areas. This role balances a highly billable, project‑embedded team with the emerging need for centralized standards, administration, and platform ownership. The GIS Manager will lead a dynamic team of GIS professionals for multidisciplinary delivery and future design of the enterprise GIS model.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to understand and ensure the solutions developed and supported by the GIS team meet the needs of our internal and external customers
  • Create, manage, and execute product service and capability roadmaps and set execution priorities for the organization that deliver on targeted business objectives
  • Incorporate overarching digital initiatives into product and project roadmaps delivering GIS solutions that add efficiencies to internal and external processes
  • Set schedules and ensure timely delivery for development, launch, support and maintenance schedules for GIS services and products developed by the GIS team
  • Develop and deliver KPIs to track against goals
  • Identify where lack of standards or platform ownership creates friction, rework, or risk
  • Shape practical, lightweight standards where they add value to GIS delivery
  • Partner with Enterprise Applications and CAD/BIM leadership on integration and scale
  • Serve as platform expert and cultivate partnership opportunities with all lines of business within Barge
  • Partner with Client Service Leaders to identify opportunities for business growth and expansion of services, both within the organization and for external clients
  • Partner with leadership to balance delivery, utilization, and longer term platform sustainability
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team remains competitive and cutting-edge
  • Lead and manage a team of GIS professionals to ensure the successful delivery of GIS and infrastructure asset management services

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technology or business-related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience in the engineering and infrastructure industry
  • Proven track record of leadership and management
  • Strong knowledge of GIS and software that supports infrastructure asset management
  • Highly data-driven in decision making practices and executive reporting
  • Experience in building relationships and business development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinker with the ability to develop and execute long-term plans
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
