A GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Analyst is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing GIS applications and solutions to support data-driven decision-making within an organization. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and visualizing geographic data to assist with mapping, spatial analysis, and reporting.
Job Responsibility:
Collect, organize, and maintain spatial and non-spatial data from various sources
Analyze geographic data to identify trends, patterns, and relationships using GIS software
Develop interactive maps, dashboards, and spatial data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders
Perform spatial analysis such as proximity, overlay, and network analysis to support business operations
Design, maintain, and update GIS databases and data layers
Quality-check and validate GIS datasets for accuracy and completeness
Collaborate with departments to identify GIS needs and recommend technical solutions
Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing analysis results
Provide GIS technical support and training to staff as needed
Stay current on GIS trends, technologies, and best practices
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field
Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo)
Strong skills in data management, spatial analysis, and cartography
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Nice to have:
Experience with GIS programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL)
