This eight‑month fixed‑term role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within local government and build your capability in a complex, high‑impact environment. As our GIS Analyst, you will support the design, analysis, and delivery of spatial solutions across Council, working with stakeholders to understand business needs and contribute to the improvement of our spatial systems and processes. With ongoing projects and future opportunities regularly emerging, this role provides a strong pathway into Council.
Job Responsibility:
Providing spatial design and analysis services, and supporting the development, enhancement, and implementation of spatial business systems and solutions
Gathering and documenting business, functional, technical, and data requirements, translating them into clear specifications, and contributing to the planning, development, testing, and implementation of spatial tools and applications
Facilitating workshops and engaging with stakeholders to elicit requirements and ensure practical, proactive solutions are delivered
Ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of spatial datasets and related systems
Contributing to spatial standards, templates, methodologies, and processes, and supporting continuous improvement and system maintenance activities
Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements:
Experience in GIS roles with a demonstrated ability to deliver quality analytical and technical outputs
Tertiary qualification in GIS or an equivalent field
Strong technical proficiency in GIS tools and related technologies, including system integration, spatial analysis, SQL, JavaScript, and the Microsoft suite
Communicate complex information clearly and engage effectively with stakeholders to support change initiatives
Demonstrate strong planning and organisational skills, and work collaboratively with a focus on proactive improvement
